Breathing-muscle practice raised inspiratory pressure in a small heart-failure trial
Source: European Heart Journal
What the research found
A European Heart Journal conference abstract posted 26 October 2026 describes 40 adults with stable chronic heart failure (mean age 62, standard deviation 12.7 years, about 80 percent men, all mild symptoms). Eight weeks of home inspiratory muscle training plus usual rehab improved maximal inspiratory pressure more than rehab alone (median change about +9.7 versus -2.3 cmH2O). Walking distance and a heart-filling measure only trended. No adverse events were reported. This is a small meeting abstract, not a reason to change prescribed care. Not medical advice.
Evidence level: Human study. A study in people, but an association isn't proof of cause.
