More daily movement tracked with a weaker gene-depression link
Source: EurekAlert
What the research found
A 26 October 2026 Kansas State University release describes a Nature Mental Health analysis of All of Us genetic data and Fitbit records. Adults with more daily steps, or more moderate-to-vigorous physical activity, showed a weaker link between genetic risk and depression severity. The release does not describe a trial that assigned activity, so this is an association. Not medical advice.
Evidence level: Human study. A study in people, but an association isn't proof of cause.
