Low vitamin D linked to more pain after breast cancer surgery

Study (observational). Abdelhady and colleagues at Fayoum University Hospital followed 184 women having unilateral modified radical mastectomy (mean ages about 42–44). Those with vitamin D below 30 nmol/L were three times more likely to report moderate-to-severe pain in the first 24 hours and used more tramadol (about 112 mg) than the sufficient group; intraoperative fentanyl was only modestly higher. No one scored severe pain (≥7/10). Single-center, not a supplementation trial, and not proof that vitamin D causes pain. Educational notes, not a prescription to start vitamin D before surgery.

Cancer is rising in younger adults. Faster biological aging may help explain why

Study (observational). WashU Medicine’s Yin Cao, Ruiyi Tian and colleagues report in Nature Medicine that among more than 154,000 UK Biobank young adults and more than 10,000 U.S. All of Us participants, more recent birth cohorts looked biologically older at the same chronological age. U.S. adults born 1990–1999 had systemic aging 92% of one SD higher than those born 1965–1969; UK 1965–1974 vs 1950–1954 was 23% of one SD. Greater systemic aging tracked an 8% higher risk of early-onset solid cancers (diagnosed at 55 or younger); the top tertile had 15% higher risk after genetic adjustment. Organ-specific clocks linked immune aging to lung cancer and adipose aging to colorectal cancer. Association is not a screening protocol. Educational aging notes, not a diagnosis.

Ozempic and Wegovy may raise hair loss risk in some men

GLP-1 drugs such as Ozempic, Wegovy, and Zepbound may increase hair-loss risk by 7% in men who are already genetically susceptible to male-pattern baldness. The findings suggest thinning hair may not be caused only by rapid weight loss and could also reflect a biological link between GLP-1 activity and hair follicles. Educational supplement parallel (not a replacement): When headlines discuss GLP-1 medicines and aging, people often research food-first fiber or bitter-botanical “pathway support” formulas. Those are not semaglutide, not compounded GLP-1, and not a substitute for a prescribed GLP-1 drug. Mouse or marketing claims are hype until human outcome data exist. Weakly evidenced. Store: /store/glp1-pathway-support. Not medical advice. Not a substitute for a prescribed medicine. Off-label prescription use is clinician-only. VitaLonga does not diagnose, treat, or cure disease. Never start, stop, or replace a prescription with a supplement on the basis of a headline.

AI uncovers hidden Ozempic side effects across 400,000 Reddit posts

Study (computational social listening). Penn Engineering’s Neil Sehgal, Sharath Chandra Guntuku, Lyle Ungar and colleagues report in Nature Health on more than 400,000 Reddit posts from nearly 70,000 users over five years. About 44% described at least one side effect of semaglutide or tirzepatide; GI complaints were most common. Nearly 4% of those reporting effects mentioned menstrual-cycle changes; others described chills, hot flashes, and fatigue. Reddit users skew younger and more male; the authors cannot say the drugs caused the symptoms. Not a reason to start, stop, or replace a prescribed GLP-1. Off-label longevity use is clinician-only. Not medical advice. Educational supplement parallel (not a replacement): When headlines discuss GLP-1 medicines and aging, people often research food-first fiber or bitter-botanical “pathway support” formulas. Most men don’t know dairy is linked to prostate cancer risk

Survey plus prior observational literature. A Morning Consult poll of 1,102 U.S. men for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine found only 20% knew dairy had been associated with higher prostate-cancer risk in earlier studies, while 66% said they would consider avoiding dairy after hearing that claim; only 20% recalled nutrition advice from a clinician. Cited observational work includes a 32-study meta-analysis and cohorts linking higher milk or low-fat dairy intake with higher incidence. Association is not proof that dropping dairy prevents cancer. Advocacy-funded survey. Educational diet notes, not a prescription to eliminate dairy.

Scientists find Ozempic may slow aging itself

Semaglutide helped older healthy mice live longer while improving memory, muscle function, blood sugar control, and several biological signs of aging. Its effects went beyond those seen with calorie restriction, raising the possibility that GLP-1 drugs could tap into a separate biological pathway linked to longevity. HIIT reached 80% of its VO2max gain in about 11 minutes a session; steady cardio needed ~52

Study (meta-analysis). A Sports Medicine systematic review found HIIT improved VO2max more than moderate continuous training (d=0.38). HIIT showed a non-linear dose-response: ~80% of the maximal VO2max effect (about +3.45 mL/kg/min) at ~11 minutes per session. Moderate continuous training needed ~52 minutes per session for a similar share of its own max effect. Cardiometabolic risk-factor changes were comparable. Pooled trials, mixed ages. Educational exercise notes, not a one-size interval prescription.

Scientists find signs of extreme aging and youth in the same 117-year-old

Study (case multi-omics). Manel Esteller, Eloy Santos-Pujol and colleagues at the Josep Carreras Institute report in Cell Reports Medicine a genomic, proteomic, epigenomic, metabolomic, and microbiome snapshot of Maria Branyas, who lived past 117. Biology showed both extreme-age signals (very short telomeres, aged B cells) and protective features (low inflammation, bifidobacteria-dominant gut, younger epigenetic age, neuro- and cardioprotective genetic traits). One supercentenarian is not a lifestyle protocol. Educational longevity notes, not a supplement plan.

Finnish study finds working from home increases sedentary behavior

Study (device-measured). University of Turku WORKDAY researchers (Suorsa and colleagues) had 99 hybrid workers wear a thigh accelerometer on office and remote days. Remote days showed about 15 minutes more sleep and 45 minutes more sitting or lying down, with less standing, light activity, and moderate-to-vigorous activity; commute walking and cycling were partly replaced by sitting. Published in the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity. Small hybrid-worker sample, not a trial of standing desks. Educational movement notes, not a workplace prescription.

Brain aging may be detected decades before symptoms appear, with links to gut health

Study (observational). UCLA Health researchers (Kanhao Zhao, senior author Arpana Church) report in eBioMedicine on nearly 1,500 adults across three groups. A Brain Aging Index from resting brain-network scans that looked older than chronological age tracked with poorer working memory and executive function and more depressive symptoms. In one group, stool profiles (fat molecules, a cholesterol-related compound, lower estetrol) associated with a higher index, pointing to immune, vascular, neuronal, and energy pathways. This is cross-sectional, not a probiotic trial. A commercial gut product for brain age is weakly evidenced. Food-first fiber is educational, not a treatment.

Deep-sleep loss linked to Alzheimer’s-related protein buildup in new study

Study. UC Berkeley neuroscientist Omer Sharon and colleagues, directed by Matthew Walker, report in Nature Neuroscience (Sept. 11, 2026) that frontal-cortex tau in cognitively healthy older adults tracks with shorter, less synchronized non-REM slow waves and poorer overnight episodic-memory retention. EEG compared adults in their early 20s with adults in their mid-60s to mid-70s; PET with William Jagust showed tau where traveling slow waves originate. A second cohort’s spinal-fluid tau/amyloid ratios pointed the same way. People did not have clinical Alzheimer’s; memory change was within a normal age range. Association is not proof that tau causes memory loss, and the study does not license a sleep supplement. Educational sleep notes, not a diagnosis.

Ten grams of creatine a day raised lean mass in sedentary adults 45–65, even without a gym plan

Study (randomized, double-blind). Jisun Chun, Richard Kreider and Texas A&M colleagues report in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition on 64 sedentary adults aged 45–65 (mean 54.5; 40 women, 24 men) who first chose a non-exercise or exercise-plus-diet arm, then received 10 g/day creatine monohydrate (2×5 g) or maltodextrin for 12 weeks. Without training, creatine increased DXA lean tissue (~1.1 kg), strength, and muscular endurance, with exploratory shifts in selected lipids, HbA1c, and memory tests. Exercise-plus-diet plus creatine cut body-fat percentage more. Self-selected arms; not a disease treatment. Educational supplement notes, not medical advice.
