What the research found
GeroScience published a methods paper on 4 November 2026 for the Dog Aging Project Pack. The open cohort began in 2019. Owners volunteer longitudinal information about companion dogs. As of 31 December 2024 the Pack had enrolled 50,188 dogs in all 50 US states and the District of Columbia. More than half had follow-up, spanning up to five years, and the project had recorded 14,978 deaths. The paper describes recruitment, retention, data collection, and how the open data are shared. It is a cohort-design paper. DOI 10.1007/s11357-026-02580-6. Not medical advice.
Evidence level: Animal study. Results in animals or cells often don't carry over to people.
