What the research found
News-Medical posted this on 29 October 2026. The American Geriatrics Society Healthy Aging Special Interest Group published a clinician framework in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society (DOI 10.1111/jgs.70769). The society's own note is on its media-center page for the same framework. The card links to the News-Medical report. This is not a trial. The paper uses cases to apply the Geriatrics 5Ms, Mind, Mobility, Medications, Multicomplexity, and What Matters Most, to incretin therapy, including GLP-1 medicines. Older adults were under-represented in the drug trials the framework is responding to. The authors tell clinicians to weigh sarcopenia, frailty, loss of lean mass, malnutrition, and dehydration, to check function, nutrition, and cognitive impairment before treatment, and to pair therapy with resistance training and adequate protein. Team care may include a dietitian, a physical therapist, a trainer, and behavioral health. Language in the society material that these drugs look promising for weight and glycemic control is the society's framing, not a VitaLonga recommendation. Sex was not a result in this framework. Prescribing is clinician-only. Not medical advice.
Evidence level: Animal study. Results in animals or cells often don't carry over to people.
Not medical advice. Not a substitute for a prescribed medicine. Off-label prescription use is clinician-only. VitaLonga does not diagnose, treat, or cure disease. Never start, stop, or replace a prescription with a supplement on the basis of a headline.
